Last week, after a particularly epic ocean kayaking session, a few friends and I piled into the car for a short drive to brunch. We ended up at 26 Beach, a sunny, sweet restaurant on Washington Blvd.
The decor at 26 Beach rotates — it seems like every time I go it’s been transformed. This time there were butterflies everywhere!
Now that my boyfriend and I will be decorating a new space soon, I can’t help but notice decor everywhere I go. I loved the creativity here! They even had a hand-painted wall mural.
26 Beach takes brunch — particularly French toast — seriously, which I’m completely on board with. When I go out for brunch, I go out for brunch. Luckily my girl Jess read my mind and we split two entrees for that perfect savory and sweet combo. Tell me this isn’t the best ever?! How does anyone eat out for brunch and not split!
I started with a steaming, delicious cup coffee, which really set the tone. Good brunch and bad joe just don’t mix.
Then we moved on to the main attraction:
The heavenly lemon ricotta French toast took first for me. It’s light and sweet with fresh raspberry sauce that brings it all together. I loved that the bread they use is thick and just a little bit crispy on the edges. It’s a winner.
The scrambles at 26 Beach have brown rice underneath, which was surprisingly delicious! We loved the smoked salmon, asparagus and cheese combination. The ingredients tasted fresh.
Look at those sweet people! I’m going to miss them in Texas! Good thing the flight is short… ;)
