One of the most frequent questions that I get is about blogging itself — how do you follow a blog? Do you read it every day? How does it work?
I truly believe that it’s something that everyone can enjoy. There are blogs written about everything, and they come in variety of different formats. Some are completely written for passion and some make millions of dollars in revenue. Truly — the blog world is expansive and incredibly informative, but most of all, it’s just fun.
Here are a few different ways to follow your favorite blogs.
Bloglovin’. Bloglovin’ is my favorite example of a blog aggregator and it’s also one of the most popular. After you sign up and follow your favorite blogs, you’ll see a feed of all of the recent posts published on the blogs that you follow. I love this setup! Instead of clicking around to a variety of websites, they’re all funneled into one website, which basically becomes my morning reading. :)
There are other blog aggregators out there (including Feedly, which I’ve heard good things about!), but Bloglovin’ is my personal favorite and probably the most popular among fashion and lifestyle blogs. I actually just got Always, Anita set up there this week!
Email Subscription. Nearly every blog has the option to follow by email. If you follow my blog by email, you receive an email copy of each blog post the morning after they’re published. You lucky duck! ;)
There are obvious advantages to this set up — if you don’t follow many blogs, it’s nice to have them delivered to you without any action on your part. If you do end up following more blogs, though, it may be annoying to have all of those emails pouring into your email box. The formatting may also be altered, depending on the blog itself. I think this is a great way to go if you follow just a few blogs.
Social Media. Many blogs, especially those that are larger and more widely-read, also have social media channels devoted to their brand. You’ll see when your favorite blogger has posted as part of your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram feed. Often they’ll also post about things unrelated to a specific post, which can be really fun!
If I were you, I’d head on over to Bloglovin‘ and set yourself up an account! Follow a few blogs and see what you think. I favorited Bloglovin’ in Google Chrome, and it’s one of my most-used shortcuts.
P.S. Here are a few of my favorite blogs to get you started:
Lifestyle: A Cup of Joe
Crafts: A Beautiful Mess
Food: Iowa Girl Eats
Across the Pond: The Londoner
