On Friday, my boyfriend and I drove out to Half Moon Bay, a sleepy, organic, sweet little town by the water, just about 45 minutes from San Francisco.
It was cloudy and overcast, which made everything look photogenic and gave me an excuse to wear my new army jacket.
We wandered in and out of the coastal-themed shops, admiring shabby-chic decor, letterpress cards, and soy candles. Finally, we found ourselves at a little wine shop and decided to stop in for a taste.
I don’t know who figured out that wine and cheese go together, but they were really onto something.
After analyzing and comparing notes and acidity, we decided to kick back a bit. It was time for some comfort food.
Daddy-O’s served us up some seriously delicious BBQ, including their pulled pork sandwich and “mac the knife” mac n’ cheese. The pulled pork was the real winner though — perfectly crispy on the outside, while remaining juicy and sweet. Gah.
Finally, after eating our weight in pulled pork and chili, we drove out to the beach for a walk along the ocean.
It’s crazy how different the ocean looks here as compared to where we live in Southern California. Somehow it felt even more peaceful. The kind of peaceful that warrants cable-knit sweaters and deliciously good books, rather that hot pink bikinis and sandy boogie boards. You know?
Hope your week is off to a good start! I’ll be back with a recap of Napa wine tasting on Wednesday, which I’m really excited to share.
