One of the best parts of being on vacation, especially the kind of slow, relaxing vacation full of foamy lattes and fur blankets, is that I have more time to read. This most recent vacation brought two novels, including Jonathan Tropper’s latest indulgence, This Is Where I Leave You. You guys. You’ve got to read it. Though the premise didn’t originally catch me up, I quickly fell in love and stayed up late each night (through NyQuil-induced, stuffy-nosed tiredness, I might add) to finish it.
Here’s an excerpt from the publisher’s outline:
Simultaneously mourning the demise of his father and his marriage, Judd joins his dysfunctional family as they reluctantly sit shiva-and spend seven days and nights under the same roof. The week quickly spins out of control as longstanding grudges resurface, secrets are revealed and old passions are reawakened. Then Jen delivers the clincher: she’s pregnant.”
Just in case you’re not convinced, here’s the film trailer, which I learned is coming out one month from today! I can’t wait. Let’s make tee shirts and wait outside the theater until midnight, mmkay? ;)
