This morning we hopped on our bikes and peddled over to Venice Beach. Known for brawny men, beach volleyball, and bro tank street shopping, I can’t say that I think of Venice as my place… but it ended up being such an eclectic, fun way to spend a Saturday morning.
Bikes are the perfect way to go– there’s an awesome paved path (pictured above) and it’s easy to hop on and off when something interests you.
I will admit that there was some pretty lust-worthy bohemian clothing for sale. I spied crotchet-everything, Birkenstocks, and jean cutoffs. If you’re really in a shopping mood, though, I’d suggest heading to Abbot-Kinney, where you’ll find vintage cowgirl boots and organic (soft!) materials in shops that don’t exist anywhere else.
The weather (sunny and hot, with a substantial breeze) cooperated beautifully.
Did you have a good Saturday? We’re trying some local Italian food tonight… after a Target run, of course. :)
P.S. The above GIF was made using the new app, “Party! Party!” — which I’m in love with! It creates photo-booth-style GIFs and movies for Instagram or blogging. And it’s super easy to use. I made this one while riding!
